Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Japanese rectors headed by Deputy Minister of Education, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, Mr. Hiroyuki Nakamura, arrives in Uzbekistan to attend the Summit.
The summit of rectors of Uzbekistan and Japan will open on 8 July in Tashkent in the building of the Tashkent State Economic University and the first event will be the III Conference of heads of universities of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Japan.
The work of the Conference will be opened by Deputy Prime Minister in charge of education Aziz Abduhakimov and Deputy Minister of Education, Sport, Science and Technology of Japan, Mr. Hiroyuki Nakamura.
The purpose of the Summit of Rectors of Uzbekistan and Japan is to further expand and deepen academic and scientific cooperation, exchange students, improve the qualifications of the teaching staff of higher educational institutions of both countries, as well as enhance cooperation with leading innovation centers, technology parks and universities of Japan to conduct joint scientific and applied research.
In the upcoming Summit of Rectors, representatives from more than 20 Japanese universities are expected to attend, consisting of more than 50 participants from the Japanese side. From the Uzbek side, the event will be attended by the rectors of 37 higher educational institutions.
During the Conference, the parties will discuss prospects for the development and expansion of cooperation in technical and engineering areas and the humanities. It is also planned to sign a number of agreements between higher educational institutions of the two countries.
As part of the Summit, a trip to Samarkand will be organized for the Japanese delegation, where in addition to getting acquainted with the architectural and historical sights of our ancient city, a meeting is also planned with the faculty of Samarkand State University.
It should be noted that previous years were held I Conference in Tokyo in 2010, II - in 2015 in Tashkent.
