A delegation of Uzbekistan takes part in the work of the XIV Meeting of the Chairmen of the Supreme Courts of the SCO member states

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A meeting of the chairmen of the Supreme Courts of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries was held on 18 June in Sochi, Russia.
Among the participants of the event were the heads of the Supreme Courts of India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan. The chairmen of the highest judicial instances of the observer states of the SCO - Afghanistan, Belarus and Mongolia, as well as Cambodia, which is a dialogue partner, were invited to the meeting as guests.
During the meeting, a number of topical issues were considered, aimed at further enhancing the cooperation of the chairmen of the Supreme Courts of the SCO member states in ensuring the rule of law, the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, as well as the exchange of experience in this direction. The issues of reducing the time and number of pending cases at various levels of the judicial system, the mechanisms of pre-trial settlement, the use of conciliation procedures for resolving disputes were discussed in detail.
The parties also discussed issues relating to the application by courts of national and international legal acts on the protection of the family rights of the child, including those related to the protection of the property rights of children.
However, delegates raised the issue of reviewing court decisions and sentences in criminal cases that had entered into legal force.
The meeting also discussed the problems and prospects for the development of administrative justice, measures to strengthen the judiciary.
As noted, one of the main areas of cooperation of the SCO member states is to ensure the principle of the rule of law. At the same time, the parties expressed interest in more active interaction and better understanding in the framework of the protection of human rights.
The parties also agreed to exchange on an ongoing basis information on their experience in the field of judicial and legal activities in the format of mutual conferences and visits.
Following the meeting, a joint statement was signed by the chairmen of the Supreme Courts of the SCO member states.
Within the framework of the meeting, the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan K. Kamilov met with the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation V. Lebedev.
