Uzbekistan, Great Britain hold itical consultations in London

Foreign political bodies of Uzbekistan and Great Britain held the first political consultations at the level of heads of departments in London.
The state and prospects for bilateral cooperation in political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres, as well as interaction of the parties within international organizations were discussed in detail, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The British side highly appreciated large-scale socio-political and socio-economic reforms in the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as expressed its readiness to continue to render all-round assistance in their further effective implementation.
The British side welcomed Uzbekistan’s introduction of a visa-free regime for citizens of the United Kingdom, as a result of which in 2018 the number of tourists from the UK to Uzbekistan increased by 40 percent, business ties and cultural-humanitarian cooperation are expanding.
The parties emphasized the need for deepening cooperation in education, including issues of education, training and retraining of specialists.
A draft Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the two countries was also discussed within the framework of consultations. Views were exchanged on key issues of international and regional policy.
The next round of consultations is scheduled to be held in Uzbekistan.
