Practical issues of organizing the visit of the first certified US trade mission considered

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 June 2019, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington hosted a meeting with Director of the Eurasian Office of the US Department of Commerce Matthew Edwards to discuss preparations for the first certified US trade mission to Uzbekistan.
The upcoming trade mission of the United States Department of Commerce jointly with the American Chamber of Commerce and the US-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to take place on 18-20 June in accordance with the agreements reached during negotiations between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross in October 2018 in Tashkent.
It is planned that the business mission will include about 20 of the largest American companies. They represent such areas as consumer goods production, health care and pharmaceuticals, construction, geology, metallurgy, aviation, logistics, agriculture, animal husbandry, agricultural engineering, software and education.
To date, 13 companies have already confirmed their participation in this mission, among them Procter & Gamble, Medtronic, Bechtel, etc. In general, about 25-30 representatives of American business are expected to participate in the trade mission.
In the framework of the visit of American companies, it is also planned to hold a business forum and cooperation exchanges in the “G2B” and “B2B” formats.
In general, this visit is expected to create a platform for expanding the multifaceted partnership between the business communities of the two countries. The parties are planning to achieve concrete practical results that could be formalized in the form of solid agreements within the framework of the Uzbek-American business forum this coming autumn in Washington.
