Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 June, a press tour to the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan was held for Uzbekistan’s leading mass media representatives.
The event was attended by specialists of Rosatom State Corporation and Uzatom Agency, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, UzA reported.
The event is aimed at providing information about the Institute of Nuclear Physics (INP) of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, which was founded in 1956, as well as demonstration of scientific school and Uzbekistan’s experience in nuclear technology.
Participants got acquainted with research nuclear reactor VVR-SM located on the territory of the institute. It was put into operation in September 1959. Initially, the reactor capacity was 2 MW, but later it was increased to 10 MW.
Journalists visited the Radiopreparat State Enterprise, organized in 1976. It produces general-purpose radionuclides for medicine, biotechnology, agriculture, radiopharmaceuticals for diagnosis and treatment of cancer, cardiac and endocrine diseases, as well as test systems for diagnosis of infectious diseases. The nomenclature exceeds 60 names. Most developments are unique and protected by copyright certificates and patents.
