Interior Ministry: “2,072 people received Uzbek citizenship”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An open dialogue was held at the Agency of Information and Mass Communications with the participation of officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and journalists.
The event was attended by Head of the Migration Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Badriddin Shorikhsiev, Head of the Main Directorate of Crime Prevention of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Abduvohid Ismoilov, Head of the Migration and Citizenship Registration Department of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the city of Tashkent Kudrat Yuldashev, Head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Public Relations and Mass Media Qutbiddin Burkhonov and other responsible police officers.
According to the head of the main department of migration and registration of citizenship of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Badriddin Shorikhsiev, this year more than 312 thousand citizens received passports.
“Passports are issued in all district departments of internal affairs of Tashkent and the administrative centers of the regions,” B.Shorikhsiev explained. He also noted that the procedure for registration of passports was simplified, starting in May of this year.
Journalists asked how many people received permanent residence in the capital?
“Since the beginning of 2019, over 16,800 people have received permanent registration in the capital, and 6,411 people in Tashkent region. Also during this period, 83,600 and 13,700 respectively were registered,” Badriddin Shorikhsiev said.
At the event, it was noted that on the basis of presidential decrees, 2,072 stateless persons were granted Uzbek citizenship this year.
