Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Contracts worth US$320 million were signed in the framework of the International Investment Forum Doing business with Namangan.
The International Investment Forum “Doing business with Namangan” took place on 7-8 June 2019 in the city of Namangan, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Khokimiyat of Namangan region together with relevant ministries and departments.
The forum was attended by over 500 people, including 350 foreign guests, including 230 representatives of foreign business circles from 36 countries, accredited diplomatic corps and foreign media in Uzbekistan, as well as 18 ambassadors of Uzbekistan assigned to the Namangan region.
Despite the fact that the forum was held immediately after the holy month of Ramadan, about 100 businessmen from 8 Muslim states - Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Pakistan, Iran and Azerbaijan took part in it.
Following the first day of the forum, 24 investment agreements and export contracts totaling more than US$170 million were signed, and on the second day 15 more agreements were concluded. A total of 39 documents were signed totaling US$320 million.
Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov, First Deputy Foreign Minister Ilkhom Nematov, First Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Alisher Abdualiyev, Hokim of the region Khairullo Bazarov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Adham Ikramov spoke at the plenary meeting.
First Deputy Khokim of the region Ayubhon Kamalov made a presentation on the economic potential of Namangan region and spoke about the possibilities of doing business in the region.
In addition, successful entrepreneurs from Namangan region informed the forum participants about the region’s export potential, as well as the possibilities for implementing projects in the areas of textile agroclusters, animal husbandry, public-private partnerships and other areas.
During the breakout sessions, a wide range of issues related to the development of industry and renewable energy, agriculture, innovation and tourism in the Namangan region were discussed. After that, an exhibition of export goods of the Namangan region in various industries was organized, as well as negotiations in the B2B and B2G formats.
On 8 June 2019 in Namangan, the International Investment Forum “Doing business in Namangan” continued its work.
The participants familiarized themselves with the activities of major export-oriented companies in the Namangan region, such as Istiқlol Design, Art Soft Tex, Merrimed Farm, Chortto Mineral Voter, Ideal and others.
Foreign guests also visited cultural, historical, tourist and educational sites - the archaeological complex Akhsikent, Chorthos Resort, the complex named after Isoқhona Tura Ibrat and others.
Along with this, separate substantive negotiations with representatives of major foreign companies from India, Russia, Austria, China, Iran, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Great Britain, Germany and others were organized in the Khokimiyat of Namangan Region.
In particular, following the meeting of Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov, the leadership of the Ministry of Health with representatives of the Austrian companies AME International GmbH and AVK GmbH signed a tripartite Memorandum on improving the material and technical base of the cardiological center of Namangan region with an interest-free credit line on the amount of 10.5 million.
Following the talks with the chairman of the Indian company Ultimate Investment M. Gupta, an agreement was signed with the governor of Namangan region on the construction of hotels and a business center for a total of US$50.0 million.
An agreement has been reached with the Chinese company Yantag Jimpeng Mining to implement a project for the extraction of mineral resources in the Pap district for US$40.0 million.
An agreement has been reached with the company Tavifa Trading House (Russia) to export textile products in the amount of US$30.0 million.
Within the framework of the forum, the Khokimiyat of Namangan region together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the first time in the region developed and launched an Internet portal to support exporters MADEINNAMANGAN.UZ, containing a catalog of manufacturers of Uzbekistan.
After the forum, many foreign participants and representatives of the diplomatic corps shared their opinions and impressions.
The general opinion of the forum participants boils down to the fact that the arrival of such a large number of foreign guests in one of the regions of the republic indicates the great interest of foreign business circles to Uzbekistan, which is rapidly changing in all respects, Uzbekistan. The success of the event was largely achieved due to the human factor, including good knowledge of local volunteers of foreign languages, hospitality, openness and a desire to cooperate.
Foreign businessmen expressed the wish to hold such forums annually in the regions of Uzbekistan, which, in turn, will provide an opportunity to inform about the economic potential of the country, favorable conditions for foreign investors and an improving business climate.
