Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Pursuant to the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the construction of a nuclear power plant and the Road Map in the Republic of Uzbekistan on the implementation of the above Agreement, from August 2018 to March 2019, the first stage of integrated engineering and survey work was conducted at potential site of the nuclear power plant.

The experts studied 4 sites located in Navoi and Bukhara regions, in the area of water Tudakul wounds and 3 sites in Jizzakh region, near Lake Tuzkan.

Taking into account the results of surveys, engineering and economic feasibility and on the basis of the decision of the joint meeting of the Republican working group to coordinate the implementation of the project for the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Scientific, Technical and Expert Council of the Agency for the Development of Nuclear Energy under the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the opinions of experts and the conclusions of international experts - the priority site for the placement of nuclear power plant will be the site near the Tuzkan Aydar-Arnasay Lake System of the Lakes in Jizzakh region.

Today, the second stage of engineering and exploration work continues for further licensing and approval of the selected site.

In order to accelerate the start of the project and the development of design solutions for further construction on 17 May, a contract was signed with Atomstroyexport (part of the engineering division of Rosatom State Corporation) to carry out engineering and survey work for the development of a technical project, work began on the development of an engineering survey program for a technical project, as well as mobilization of personnel and equipment.
