Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A monument to our legendary compatriot, the blacksmith Shaakhmed Shamakhmudov, was unveiled in Bekabad on the Day of workers of the mining and metallurgical industries of Uzbekistan.
As Kabul Shodiev, a member of the supervisory board of the SFI Management Group, told at the opening ceremony, he once mentioned in conversation with the president of the Italian company Danieli Gianpietro Benedetti about our countryman, who adopted 15 orphans evacuated from Russia during the war.
This feat of the Uzbek blacksmith literally shook the famous Italian businessman, and he decided to immortalize our compatriot in bronze. The monument was made in Italy, then brought to Bekabad and installed at Uzmetkombinat.
It was Benedetti who solemnly presented to the crowd at the ceremony, stressing that "the blacksmith Shamakhmudov, our colleague, is a legendary person who managed to shelter and raise 15 children in the harsh years of war, it is difficult to imagine, it causes great admiration."
The statue of Shamakhmudov differs from the famous Tashkent monument, where he and his wife are depicted surrounded by their adopted children. Here in the foreground is the professionalism of the blacksmith, his desire to “tame” the recalcitrant metal, he seems to be charged for the work ahead.
At the solemn event, the daughter of Shamakhmudova, Holida (Olga), spoke out. She thanked everyone who keeps the memory of her father and wished the metallurgists success in their hard work.
