ISIS head, Ambassador of Germany hold meeting to discuss Uzbek-German relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with German Ambassador to Uzbekistan Günter Overfeld. During the conversation, the current state and prospects of development of Uzbek-German relations were discussed.
The head of the German diplomatic mission noted with satisfaction the significant intensification of cooperation between Tashkent and Berlin over the past two years. The increase in trade between the two countries was particularly noted, which, according to the results of 2018, reached to 700 million euros, showing a 24.5% increase compared with the previous year. Berlin is confident that in the near future this figure will reach 1 billion euros.
According to Günter Overfeld, today there are all the necessary prerequisites for deepening and expanding relations between the two states. In the government and business circles of the Federal Republic of Germany, there is a widespread interest in “changing the unprecedented pace of Uzbekistan before.” At the same time held in January of this year. The official visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Germany gave a powerful impetus to the main directions of the Uzbek-German cooperation.
The diplomat underlined that in Berlin they attach great importance to the upcoming visit of German Federal President Frank Walter Steinmeier to Uzbekistan. Negotiations are perceived as a “continuation of the high-level and constructive dialogue begun in Berlin at the highest level for the further advancement of relations between countries.”
