Uzbekistan and Finland holds Inter-MFA political consultations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 May 2019, the eighth round of Uzbek-Finnish ministerial political consultations was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Dilshod Akhatov, the Finnish side was represented by a delegation led by the Director General of the Foreign Affairs Department for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Maimo Henriksson, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
During the negotiations, the agenda of bilateral relations in political, trade, economic, investment, tourism, cultural, humanitarian and other fields, as well as prospects for cooperation in the “Uzbekistan - European Union” format, were discussed in detail.
It was emphasized that the parties have significant potential for increasing cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, and are ready to expand bilateral ties.
In this context, the proposal to resume the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific and Technical Cooperation, the previous meeting of which was held in 2002, was considered.
The parties exchanged views on key aspects of international and regional issues.
Finnish Ambassador Maria Elina Liivala took part in the talks.
