Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 May, a contract was signed in Tashkent to carry out engineering surveys at the construction site for the development of a nuclear power plant technical design.
The documents were signed by Otabek Amanov, Director of the Nuclear Power Plant Directorate of the Agency Uzatom, and Dmitry Ashanin, Deputy Director for Perspective Projects of Atomstroyexport JSC (part of the engineering division of ROSATOM).
“This document is one of the key ones in the framework of the NPP construction project in Uzbekistan and will allow starting survey work on the construction site of the future station,” Amanov said.
“The signing of this contract is another step in the implementation of a large-scale project for the construction in Uzbekistan of the most modern and safe nuclear power plants with VVER-1200 reactors,” Ashanin said.
The intergovernmental agreement on the construction of nuclear power plants under the Russian project was signed on 7 September 2018 by the heads of the governments of Russia and Uzbekistan. The start of the first NPP construction project in Uzbekistan was given by the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia in Tashkent on 19 October 2018.
