Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington, on 18 April 2019 the US State Department organized a fashion show under the thematic title “Glamor and Diplomacy”. The event was attended by representatives of diplomatic institutions of foreign countries, the fashion industry, heads of textile companies.
The event was opened by Marie Royce, Assistant Secretary of State for Education and Cultural Affairs, who noted that promoting fashion and culture will always remain an integral part of diplomacy.
Along with the collections of such famous fashion designers as Roberto Kavali, as well as fashion houses of the USA, Canada, France, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Australia, Uzbekistan is represented in the show with a unique outfit of one of the leading designers of national clothes of our country, Marhamatkhon Umarova, who brought her own designer collection from 25 unique dresses made from local fabrics.
In addition, a separate fashion show of national clothes and fabrics took place in the Embassy building. The Uzbek designer was able to win the hearts of the guests with her exquisite taste and outfits, harmoniously embodying the centuries-old culture of the Uzbek people and modern style.
Skillfully made outfits of the “MarU” brand with elements of ikat, adras and atlas, as well as their practicality, attracted increased attention among American connoisseurs of modern fashion and art.
As part of the show, close contacts were established with US fashion houses, leading designers and retail chains. The prospects for establishing direct deliveries of Uzbek textiles to the United States were discussed.
