Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 April, Rusatom Helskea, the industry complex Rusatom - International Network (RMS) and the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of radiation technologies and nuclear medicine in Sochi.
The document was signed on the sidelines of the XI International Forum ATOMEXPO-2019. The document was inked by General Director of Rusatom Helskea Alexander Shibanov, on the part of RMS - Alexander Merten, on the Uzbek side - by the President of the Academy of Sciences Behzod Yuldashev.
As part of the memorandum, the parties agreed to jointly work out a project to create cyclotron radiochemical production at the site of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of Uzbekistan, which involves the production of radioisotope products in Uzbekistan and its implementation both in the republic and abroad.
The memorandum also includes a project for the creation in Uzbekistan of a multi-purpose irradiation center (ITSO), which will provide radiation treatment services on a contractual basis to manufacturers of medical devices and agricultural products.
“The signed document opens for us new horizons of cooperation in such promising scientific and technical areas as the production of radioisotope products, new materials and radiation processing. The development of the use of modern radiation technologies in Uzbekistan will contribute to the improvement of the quality of our agricultural products, as well as an increase in the volume of exports,” B. Yuldashev commented on the signing.
