Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 March 2019, a delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Prime Minister Tanzila Narbayeva took part in the 115th annual meeting of the Explorer Club, which is the oldest scientific organizations of America, bringing together leading researchers, scientists and pioneers from around the world.
The event was timed to the 50th anniversary of the landing of the first man on the moon. It was attended by more than 1,700 guests from around the world, including the Governor-General of Canada, the Secretary of State for Tourism of Portugal, six astronauts of the Apollo mission, cosmonauts of the International Space Station, as well as renowned scientists, researchers, representatives of the world show business and executives of top companies.
One of the central points of the program of the event was the solemn ceremony of announcing the first expedition of the Explorer Club to Uzbekistan in the summer of 2019 as part of 30 leading archeologists from around the world.
The purpose of the study of the historical fortress of Bazar-Kala - one of the capitals of ancient Khorezm, discovered on the territory of modern Karakalpakstan. According to preliminary estimates, this complex dates back to 6-4 centuries BC. In the course of research, foreign scientists will study the civilization of that time, political ties with the Achaemenid Empire, as well as the process of transition from a nomadic way of life to a settled one. Following the results, a documentary film will be prepared on the expedition, the premiere of which will be held on October 11 at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington during the autumn session of the members of the Explorers Club.
According to the American side, the expedition’s budget is about US$750,000 and is fully covered by the directing side. The work of the expedition provides for the use of high-precision technology NASA.
During negotiations with the leadership of the Explorer Club, the organization of the visit of leading scientists and researchers of women to our country and the launch of the TV project “Invitation to go to the magical country of Uzbekistan with the Explorer Club” followed by the broadcast of the documentary on the American PBS television channel were discussed. within one year, reaching about 114 million viewers.
