Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the threshold of the upcoming 24th meeting of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with Christopher Allan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The main issue on the agenda of the meeting was the discussion of the preparatory processes for the upcoming event and its role in strengthening intergovernmental cooperation.
It was noted that for the first time in the entire history of the meetings, the meeting will bring together over 100 representatives of business circles representing 55 British companies.
UBTIC promotes close business ties between the UK and Uzbekistan. The structure includes 130 companies and organizations and today 437 companies with British capital are already operating in various sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan.
The parties noted that the Council is a favorable platform for the development of multi-level cooperation with the business community of the two countries, as evidenced by the large number of applications from British companies to participate this year.
In addition, the event will be signed by a number of memorandums in various industries between national organizations, companies and British manufacturers.
During the conversation, Christopher Allan also touched on particularly important and significant topics for the British government, such as international security and ensuring peace and stability in the Central Asian region, deepening cooperation in the field of vocational education, respect for the rights of British investors.
During the talks, particular attention was paid to the implementation of steps following the results of the first British-Uzbek Energy Forum, organized in spring 2018. The ambassador recalled that the key topic of the forum was the organization of financing investment projects in the oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan and the involvement of modern technologies in their implementation with the participation of international consultants.
The parties also agreed on close cooperation in organizing the next Uzbek-British Council in London. Moreover, the leadership of the Ministry launched an initiative to send to London a business mission consisting of representatives of domestic enterprises and companies in the near future in order to work out potential ways of cooperation.
