Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 February 2019, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov took part in the seventh round of Uzbek-American political consultations in Tashkent.
The US delegation was led by Acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Ambassador Alice Wells.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation. The parties also exchanged views on some international and regional issues, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.
It was noted that since the previous round of consultations, bilateral relations have reached a new stage of development. The official visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United States in May 2018 and its successful results opened a new page in the many-sided relations between our countries.
The signing agreements within the visit and the start of the implementation of them worth US$4.8 billion, the holding of the “American Business Week in Uzbekistan” last fall, and other joint events confirmed the significant potential for the development of trade, economic, investment and technological interrelations.
On the same day, the meetings of the “Policy”, “Security”, “Economy and Trade”, “Human Dimension” subgroups were held, at which specific aspects of bilateral relations were considered.
