Uzbekistan launches 25 textile enterprises in 2008
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Twenty-five textile enterprises for US$105.7 million were commissioned in Uzbekistan in 2008, Uzbekyengilsanoat (Uzbek Light Industry) state joint-stock company, which unites enterprises of light industry of Uzbekistan, said.
Nine enterprises with 100% foreign capital and eleven joint ventures were launched in the reporting period. Five textile enterprises were also modernized in 2008.
All these enterprises allow to process 35,000 tonnes of cotton-fiber and produce 45,100 tonnes of cotton yarn, 22.8 million units of ready garments and knitwork, as well as 2,400 tonnes of stockinet.
The projects were financed due to foreign direct investments, finance.uz reported.
