Uzbekistan boosts electricity output 2.3% in 2008

Uzbekistan boosted electricity production by 2.3% in 2008 to 50.100 billion kWh, the State Statistics Committee reported.
The power stations in the Uzbekenergo group account for over 98% of electricity production in Uzbekistan.
Uzbekenergo includes seven thermal electricity plants, six hydroelectric stations and three combined heat and electric plants.
Uzbekistan is part of the Central Asian Energy System. Installed capacity totals 11,580 megawatts.
