Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- About 300 students from India and Pakistan can begin their studies this year at the Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali Ibn Sino, the press service of the National Chamber of Innovative Healthcare of the Republic of Uzbekistan said.
An agreement on this was reached with the assistance of the National Chamber of Innovative Healthcare of the Republic of Uzbekistan between the Bukhara Medical Institute and ASL Pharma (Pakistan).
Negotiations on cooperation began between the director of a Pakistani company, Alamgir Khan, and the chairman of the National Chamber of Innovative Healthcare, Rovshan Izamov, in early January 2019. Speaking about the potential of partnership in the field of medical education, Alamgir Khan noted that the potential capabilities of his company allow sending up to thousands of students from India and Pakistan to study them in medical universities of Uzbekistan.
A specific agreement was reached on sending the first batch of 300 students already in the 2019-2020 academic year to the medical institute of Bukhara.
“Bukhara is known as the birthplace of Abu Ali ibn Sino - Avicenna. This is a world famous scientist who is in many ways the progenitor of medicine. Therefore, the intention of the Pakistani partner to begin work with our country with the cooperation with the Bukhara Medical Institute is understandable. Such close cooperation is important in many respects, including for the further development of the image of Uzbekistan, as a country not only for tourism, but also for the training of professional personnel, modern education, in particular medical education,” Rovshan Izamov said.
The agreements reached were reflected in the signing on 12 January 2019 of agreement on cooperation between the Bukhara Medical Institute named after Abu Ali Ibn Sino and ASL Pharma.
As part of a trip to Bukhara with the assistance of the National Chamber, a meeting of the head of the Pakistani company with the head of the Bukhara region was also organized. During the talks, Khokim of the region Uktam Barnoyev expressed support for the project to attract students from India and Pakistan to the Bukhara Medical Institute and noted the readiness of the khokimiyat to contribute to the development of this joint initiative.
Representatives of the Pakistani side were also thoroughly familiarized with the infrastructure of the Bukhara Medical Institute, including the organization of training in English language, the conditions for living and meals for students.
It was noted that the institute has experience in training foreign tourists, mainly from Russia and Kazakhstan. However, work with such a large group of students from India and Pakistan will be conducted here for the first time and this is a very promising initiative and a good experience of international cooperation.
