Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- One of the largest foreign investors in Uzbekistan - the Russian Company LUKOIL provided charitable assistance within the framework of events dedicated to 3 December - International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
For LUKOIL, social and charitable programs in the regions of its presence are the main component of the corporate strategy that promotes constructive cooperation with the state and society.
Being a socially responsible company, LUKOIL conducts active charitable activities to develop education, health care, culture, sports, and also to support socially vulnerable groups of society.
So, in November 2018, the company acquired special devices for people with disabilities, supported by the Mehribonlik Society for Social Mutual Assistance of the Disabled People, Yakkasaray District of Tashkent.
“The Mekhribonlik Society carries out its activities in close contact with its members. These are people (278 people), who need a normal diet, clothing, medicines, special adaptations and simple communication. Periodically, members of the Society form statements on the need to provide this or that assistance. The Mehribonlik Council appealed for help to the LUKOIL Company in Uzbekistan and our request did not go unheeded. Employees of the Company sympathetically participated in this noble cause and helped the members of the Society to acquire wheelchairs, crutches, canes, hearing aids. LUKOIL gave our people the opportunity to experience life. They seemed to inhale a breath of fresh air. And we, on behalf of all members of the Society, want to express our sincere gratitude for the disinterested assistance provided,” the head of the Society, Z. Yakubova noted.
Currently, a special place in the preparation of children with disabilities to integrate with society is their psychological and pedagogical rehabilitation, adaptation in an inclusive environment. The priority area of work of the Tashkent city public center for assistance to children and adolescents with paralysis “Umr” (“Life”) is the search for ways to effectively implement inclusive education, their inclusion in the general educational process.
On 17 and 20 October 2018, a master class on conductive therapy was held at the Republican Center for Social Adaptation of Children in Tashkent and its branch in Samarkand, within the framework of which the therapeutic neuro-orthopedic pneumosuit “Atlant” was purchased and demonstrated for a child with cerebral palsy.
“We are very grateful to the management of LUKOIL for financial assistance in conducting an international master class on conductive therapy, with the participation of a rehabilitation specialist, Doctor of Medicine of Russia V.A. Isanova, ” N. Gafarova, Chairman of the Center, said.
Another noble deed of the company is the improvement of a boarding school for visually impaired and blind children in Tashkent. With the support of LUKOIL, a gazebo and a playground were built, a library was decorated and equipped, and conditions were created for children’s leisure and recreation.
“Our school also has teachers with visual disabilities. We are grateful to the LUKOIL Company for the large-scale work in creating favorable conditions, both for the work of the teachers themselves and for the development of children with disabilities,” commented the school director R. Safarov.
On an ongoing basis, the Company PROVIDES financial assistance to the Bukhara city branch of the Society of the Blind. On the occasion of the Day of the Blind on 13 November and the Day of Disabled on 3 December, LUKOIL provided charitable assistance in organizing holidays for members of the Society and provided financial assistance to the sick and low-income people with disabilities.
“713 people are members of the Society of the Blind of Bukhara. There is also a boarding school in the city, where 170 children with poor eyesight are studying. I want to thank the management of the LUKOIL Company for regular support. This year, to celebrate Navruz, the company organized a festive table for 400 people and provided financial assistance to 20 blind people from low-income families. For people with special needs, it is important to feel part of society, to meet with each other, not to be isolated in the walls of their own homes. The company sponsored today’s celebration, which allowed people with disabilities to talk over the generously covered dastarkhan,” the head of the Bukhara city branch of the blind society M. Yadgarov said.
