Uzbekistan to develop a state program “Modern School”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to develop a state program “Modern School” for 2020-2025.
The draft presidential decree “On approval of the state program “Modern School” for 2020 – 2025” was published for discussion.
According to the draft document, the Ministry of Construction, together with the Ministry of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was entrusted to develop and approve standard projects of modern general education institutions based on international experience, taking into account the introduction of advanced technologies and engineering solutions, by June 1, 2019.
At the same time, the Ministry of Public Education will be authorized to approve in the new edition the standards for equipping general educational institutions with necessary furniture, modern teaching and laboratory equipment, textbooks and teaching materials, computer and multimedia equipment, and video surveillance systems.
The financing of new construction of general educational institutions for the “Modern School” model projects is carried out at the expense of the funds of the National Education Development Fund, as well as attracted foreign grants and loans.
Starting from 2020, construction, reconstruction and equipping of new state general education institutions are carried out exclusively according to standard projects and standards developed by the Ministry of Construction in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The draft decree noted that in 2020-2024, 126 schools will be created according to the concept of “Modern School” with a capacity of 39,690 students. It is also planned to reconstruct 704 schools during this period.
