Vocational Training Center opens in Shakhrisabz

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Vocational Training Center was opened in Shakhrisabz on 6 September 2018.
The Center was established by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in cooperation with the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The ceremony was attended by Vice-Prime minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan Kwon Yong Woo, Vice-President of KOICA Baek Sook Hee, Deputy Minister of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bahodir Nizamov, as well as high level officials of the State Investments Committee, Kashkadarya regional administration and other agencies.
The vocational training center in Shakhrisabz city, established within the framework of the project with a budget of US$8.5 million, is the third vocational training center created with the support of the Government of the Republic of Korea.
It’s worth to mention that the opening of the first training center in Tashkent was held in July 2012, followed by the opening of a similar center in Samarkand city in October 2016. Nowadays, these centers provide training for unemployed and unoccupied population in such areas demanded by the labor market as: Automobile, Welding and Plumbing, Metal Processing, Electricity, Spinning, Sewing, Information Communication Technologies.
Through establishment of such centers, KOICA intends to contribute to the workforce development of Uzbekistan and promote job creation by sharing the know-how of Korean Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) models and development experience. The project for the establishment of this center is aimed at promoting regional economic development and alleviating youth unemployment in the region by cultivating skilled technical professionals.
