Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 September 2018, the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Malaysia organized a reception in honor of the 27th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
More than 400 people from among the members of the royal family, public and political figures, representatives of ministries and departments, business and scientific circles, the diplomatic corps, the media of Malaysia, as well as activists of the Uzbek diaspora and students, studying in the host country, attended the event.
The Deputy Minister of the Federal Territories of Malaysia, Datuka Shahruddin Bin Mohd Salleh, was delegated as the official representative of the Malaysian side.
Among the high-ranking officials, who attended the reception, were Deputy Foreign Minister Marzuki Yahya, Deputy President of the Senate of Malaysia Abdul Halim bin Abd Samad, Director of the Tourism Malaysia Tourism Council Mirza Mohammad Taib, Chairman of the Malaysian Business and Industrial Association of Malaysia (PERDASAMA) Muhammad Izat Emir, former president of the Senate of Malaysia, chairman of Percetakan Nasional Malaysia Berhad Abu Zakhar Ujang and others.
During the reception, representatives of the socio-political circles of Malaysia and the diplomatic corps gave a high assessment of the achievements of Uzbekistan during the years of independence, the ongoing reforms in the socio-political and socio-economic spheres.
In particular, the Deputy Minister of the Federal Territories of Malaysia, Datuk Shahrudin Bin Mohd Salleh, said that the Malaysian side attaches great importance to the further expansion of all-round ties with Uzbekistan, the key country of Central Asia.
Salleh said with admiration the dynamic transformations in the life of ordinary citizens of Uzbekistan that have taken place over the past two years, aimed at improving their well-being. The observed progress in the economy, public administration, banking sector, healthcare and sports of Uzbekistan was especially noted. A good example is the successful performance of Uzbek athletes in the Asian Games in Indonesia, which in the team event was among top-five of the strongest countries.
The Malaysian Deputy Minister stressed that the world learned about Uzbekistan thanks to Independence, and its majestic historical monuments and rich cultural heritage became the property of all mankind. He expressed confidence that Uzbekistan and Malaysia, sharing common historical, cultural and spiritual values, possessing significant economic, intellectual and innovative potential, have all the necessary prerequisites for becoming one of the most advanced countries in the world in the near future.
Within the framework of the event, a meeting was also held with the citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan living in the territory of Malaysia. Representatives of the Uzbek community were acquainted with the achievements of Uzbekistan during the years of Independence, the ongoing reforms in the socio-political and socio-economic life of the country.
A special interest of the visitors was caused by the photo-exposition and demonstration of documentary films about the rich historical and cultural heritage of the country, the industrial and tourist potential of the Republic, as well as the magazines "Visit Uzbekistan" and "10 Reasons to Visit Uzbekistan", and the guidebook "Guide to Uzbekistan".
