Uzbek leader: Countries of the region face terrorism threats

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, all countries of Central Asian region are facing threats of terrorism, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated during consulting meeting of the heads of states of Central Asia in Astana (Kazakhstan).
He stated that the countries should continue work on forming the state borders. He added that if the countries take into account mutual interests and make compromise, the countries will fully solve this important issue.
Uzbek leader expressed his assurance that borders can and should serve as the bridges of friendship and good neighbourhood.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that today all countries of the region face with threats of terrorism, religious extremism, trans-border crime and drug trafficking. He said that the countries should join their efforts and exchange information via special and law enforcement services.
Another important task is to fight extremism ideology. He said that Uzbekistan created special scientific-research and Islam centers to combat it.
Uzbek President underlined importance of establishment of peace in Afghanistan for stable and sustainable development of Central Asia.
He said that the countries should create mechanisms for preventing and timely reaction to emergency situations and disasters, especially in border regions.
