Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The volume of production of services in Uzbekistan for January–February 2018 made up 20.47 trillion soums, which grew by 10.7% year-on-year, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
The structure of services is dominated by transport services (30.7%); trade services (27.7%); financial services (13.3%); communication and information services (6.7%).
Measures taken to improve the effectiveness of monetary policy, the expansion of lending to prospective investment projects, as well as a range of banking services, increased the growth of financial services by 29.7%.
Along with this, the highest rates of growth are observed for services in field of architecture, engineering survey, technical testing and analysis (+27.7%), education services (+17.2%), communication and information services (+16.9%), transport services (+15.7%).

The increase in the volume of transportation services is due to the increase in demand for transportation of goods and passengers, in turn, caused by the accelerated development of tourism activities, the expansion of the trading network, the continuation of projects for the construction, reconstruction of buildings and structures.
Today, Uzbekistan has a huge transport potential and unique opportunities to meet the country’s needs for transportation, both cargo and passengers in all directions and all possible modes of transport.
The largest share in the total volume of transport services is provided by services provided by road transport (48.7%). This is due to maneuverability, mobility, mobility, delivery of goods (passengers) "from door to door" without additional overloads or transplantations along the way, autonomy of the vehicle’s movement.
Transportation services by pipelines occupy 17.5% in the total volume of transport services. Services rendered by rail make up 16.6% of the total volume of transport services. The share of services for transportation of cargo and passengers by air is 9.9% of the total volume of transport services. Subsidiary transport activity occupies 7.3% of the total volume of transport services.
A significant role in the transport of goods and passengers is played by road transport. Among the regions, the largest share in the volume of road transport services was registered in Tashkent, 16.7%, Tashkent (13.8%), Samarkand (11.7%), Andijan (8.8%), Ferghana (9.2% %), Bukhara (7.3%), Kashkadarya (7.2%) regions.
The role of road transport will increase over time, as they are faster and more reliable, and are also linked with a lower risk of loss or damage to goods. Along with this, for a number of perishable products and urgent goods, road transport is the only real mode of transportation. Because of this, road transport is the preferred means of transportation of agricultural products, textiles and other non-primary commodities exported from Uzbekistan.
In January-February 2018, the growth rate of financial services reached 29.7% compared to the same period last year.
The highest growth rate is observed in Surkhandarya (+33.2%), Navoi (+32.2%), Tashkent (+31.9%), Jizzakh (+29.9%) and Tashkent city (+35.5%).
The lowest growth rate for financial services was noted in Syrdarya (+13.1%), Andijan (+15.1%), Bukhara (+15.4%), Namangan (+16.4%), Khorezm (+17.4%) regions.
Analysis of the development of the world market shows that the introduction of innovations in the field of information and communication technologies and their effective use increases efficiency of management and technological processes at enterprises, creating new and expanding existing markets for goods and services in various spheres of the economy, which ultimately leads to improve the quality of life of the population.
Among the regions, the largest share in the total volume of communication and information services is in Tashkent city (47.9%), Ferghana (6.8%), Samarkand (6.6%), Andijan (5.4%), Namangan (4.7%), the Kashkadarya region (4.7%).
Continuation of reforms in the field of education, innovative approaches to teaching methods allowed to increase the volume of education services - 687.6 billion soums, the growth rate compared to the corresponding period was 17.2%.
Among the regions, the largest share of services in the sphere of education in the total volume of services is observed in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (5.2%), Tashkent city (4.4%), Ferghana (4.2%), Bukhara (4.2%), Syrdarya (4.0%) regions. This is due to the increase in the volume of services of higher education institutions due to contracts at higher rates.
Among the regions, the largest volume is in Tashkent city (6474.5 billion soums), the Tashkent region (1528.6 billion soums).
The smallest volume is observed in Syrdarya (263.4 billion soums), Jizzakh (429.5 billion soums) regions.
