Seminar on Latvian-Uzbek cooperation in education and agrarian sector takes place in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An international seminar “Latvian agricultural experts - for cooperation in economics and education” was held at the Tashkent State Agrarian University on 27 February. It aroused great interest among students and teachers of the university, as well as specialists of the agricultural complex.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia Mihails Popkovs stressed that Latvia, as well as other EU countries closely monitor implementation of large-scale reforms conducted in the Republic of Uzbekistan on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyeva and realizing their importance for the further stable development of the country and the region, expressed readiness of Latvia to share its experience of reforms in the agricultural sector.
During the presentations of the leaders of the Latvian Agricultural Academy and the Latvian Institute for Food Safety and Animal Health, the workshop participants had an opportunity to learn about examples of best practices in the field of the agricultural sector in Latvia in such areas as introduction of international standards in the production of agricultural products, creation and operation of specialized certified laboratories for quality control.
Particular attention was paid to the issues of training highly qualified specialists of various profiles who perfectly know the organization and technology of modern agricultural production, capable of working not only at state enterprises and cooperatives, but also consultants of rental teams and farms.
Similar seminars will be held by the Latvian experts on 28 February and 1 March in Ferghana for agricultural specialists, farmers and entrepreneurs of Ferghana region.
