Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The State Committee of Uzbekistan for Investments, Tashkent city administration and South Korean company POSCO Daewoo signed an additional cooperation agreement on joint implementation of the High Tech City project.
According to the state committee, the agreement will complement the document signed on 22 November 2017 in Seoul within the framework of the visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Korea. The project envisages creation of a high-tech district in Tashkent worth US$1.4 billion.
As part of the agreement, the parties begin the first phase of the High Tech City project. The sides form a joint working group. The team will coordinate operational and qualitative implementation of all phases of the project, selection of a site for construction, development of a conceptual plan and a preliminary feasibility study.
The project will be implemented on the territory of about 50 hectares. Business centers, apartment houses, research centers, educational, commercial and industrial institutions and other facilities will be located on the territory of High Tech City.
In the framework of this project, smart technologies will be used, including energy-saving systems and building automation.
According to the committee, specialists from South Korea studied similar projects, such as Tashkent City and Nurafshon.
Now the sides are considering four options for locating a new district, considering infrastructure, environmental issues, population and other issues.
