EBRD: Uzbekistan’s GDP to grow by 5.4% in 2017

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) lowered its forecast for growth of Uzbekistan’s economic from 6.2% to 5.4% in 2017, according to the November report “Regional economic prospects in the countries of operations of the EBRD”.
According to the bank’s specialists, Uzbekistan’s GDP in 2018 will grow by 6.2%, which is 0.3 percentage points less than the EBRD’s May forecast.
EBRD experts noted that sustainable domestic investments and gradual implementation of economic reforms will contribute to the growth of the economy of Uzbekistan. The bank said that Uzbekistan will increase exports due to improved economic relations with neighboring countries.
The EBRD said the improvement of economic prospects in Russia and Kazakhstan will increase inflow of remittances from these countries to Uzbekistan.
