Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 November 2017, the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes.
President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Behzod Yuldoshev and General Director of Rosatom State Corporation Alexey Likhachev signed the document in Tashkent.
As part of the documents, the parties intend to develop cooperation in the areas related to the practical application of nuclear technology and training of personnel.
In particular, the sides will develop cooperation in such areas as creation and development of nuclear infrastructure in Uzbekistan, development of programs to raise public awareness of nuclear technologies and their application, including by creating appropriate information centers, conducting fundamental and applied research in the field of nuclear physics, use of radioisotopes and radiation technologies in industry, medicine, agriculture and other fields.
To establish full-fledged cooperation, the parties also plan to sign a standard framework intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
