Uzbek President receives UN Under-Secretary-General

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Yury Fedotov.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted with satisfaction dynamically developing and strengthening of mutually beneficial partnership of Uzbekistan with the UN, its structures and institutions.
The sides discussed issues of further strengthening of interaction and adoption of coordinated measures to combat drug trafficking, crime and terrorism on the basis of development and adoption of a joint Action Plan - the Roadmap for bilateral cooperation.
UN Under-Secretary-General Yury Fedotov highly appreciated the policy, pursued by the Uzbek leader in ensuring peace, stability and sustainable development in Central Asia, strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with the countries of the region based on principles of good-neighborliness, mutual understanding and consideration of common interests.
The urgency and timeliness of the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan voiced at the last session of the UN General Assembly was especially noted.
UN representative confirmed readiness of the authoritative international organization to develop long-term and systematic cooperation with Uzbekistan in counteracting contemporary global challenges and threats.
