Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of UzbekistanShavkat Mirziyoyev received the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill in Tashkent on 29 September 2017.
Uzbek President noted that arrival of the head of the Russian Orthodox Church in Uzbekistan is an important event in strengthening traditionally close and friendly ties between the two countries and peoples.
During the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Patriarch Kirill discussed issues of further strengthening interfaith dialogue, ensuring interethnic harmony and religious tolerance in the society, as well as education and moral education of the younger generation in order to counter such global challenges and threats as extremism, terrorism and radicalism.
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill expressed gratitude for attention and support given to the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church in Uzbekistanthe conditions created for the full spiritual life of the faithful.
It was stressed that the Russian Orthodox Church intends to continue to actively participate in the strengthening of Uzbek-Russian relations, to promote the spiritual traditions and further rapprochement of the peoples of the two countries.
