Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The second Uzbek-Russian business forum entitled “New horizons for cooperation” with participation of business circles of two countries was held in Tashkent on 26 September.
The Russian delegation was led by Vladimir Padalko, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia. The delegation included representatives of 40 companies from 18 regions of Russia and more than 20 branches of the economy.
“Now, Russia and Uzbekistan are moving along a common trajectory of improving economic model of development. Our forum is designed to support desire of production workers in their intention to cooperate with each other and create joint competitive production in domestic and foreign markets. We need to bet on integration of financial, production and human resources,” Vladimir Padalko said in his speech at the plenary session.
Padalko noted that development of relations with Uzbekistan positively affects the socio-economic situation in many regions of Russia.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sahib Saifnazarov said that mutual trade between Uzbekistan and Russia could reach US$5 billion in 2017. It should be underlined that the trade turnover between two countries made up US$4.2 billion in 2016.
According to him, Uzbekistan’s companies are ready to expand supplies of automotive, horticultural, textile and leather-shoe products, building materials to Russia. He noted that the main import items of Uzbekistan are oil and oil products, rolled metal products and engineering products.
During the forum, it was noted that it is necessary to promote institutions for legal protection of commercial interests for development of trade and economic relations.
Within the framework of the forum, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of international commercial arbitration and mediation.
The document is aimed at strengthening cooperation between the subjects of foreign economic activity of both countries.
The parties also signed a roadmap for implementing provisions of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Russian-Uzbek and Uzbek-Russian Business Councils for 2018-2019.
The program of the forum included three sessions dedicated to development of interregional cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia, tourism, as well as transport and logistics. Presentations, discussions and development of recommendations on the results of each section were held. Business circles of two states also held successful negotiations.
