Uzbekistan implements projects directed on production of building materials

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan implements several projects to develop production of construction materials.
According to JSC Uzstroymateriali, Great Wall Ceramics with Chinese investors is implementing a project to organize the production of ceramic tiles the territory of the Angren free economic zone with an annual capacity of 3.5 million square meters. The plant will be commissioned in April 2018.
The plant will produce import-substituting, competitive and high-quality finishing ceramic tiles.
In Jizzakh region, Mega Invest is implementing a project to organize production of modern energy-efficient fittings and heat-insulating materials based on basalt fiber.
The capacities will be based on European technologies. The cost of the project is US$52 million, of which US$15 million are foreign investments.
Iranian enterprise EMG is realizing a project to organize production of ceramic tiles in Yukori Chirchik district of Tashkent region with an annual capacity of 2.1 million square meters. The plant will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2017. Total cost of the project is US$11 million, of which US$8.0 million is foreign investment.
In order to meet domestic needs, the President of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution “On the program for further development of construction materials industry for 2016-2020” on 28 September 2016, according to which 80 investment projects with a total cost of US$1.2 billion will be implemented in Uzbekistan.
Implementation of the programme will help to increase in the volume of production of wall materials due to the creation of new and modernization of existing enterprises, as well as introduction of modern energy-saving technologies, which reduce the cost of finished products and costs.
Negotiations are held with representatives of firms and companies from China, Russia, Korea, Turkey and other countries on creation of joint ventures in Uzbekistan to produce modern types of building materials.
