Uzbekistan and Russia signs contracts for supply of fruit and vegetable products for US$612 million

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Russia signed 20 contracts for supply of fresh and processed fruit and vegetable products for US$612 million in January-April 2017, Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev said in an interview with the UzA agency .
Ambassador said that from January to April 2017, Uzbekistan increased the export of fruit and vegetable products by 9% compared to the same period in 2016.
Vladimir Tyurdenev said that the expansion of economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia, including in the direction of increasing the supply of Uzbek agricultural products, is today a priority task.
The Russian envoy noted that Uzbekistan and Russia signed an agreements on organization of simplified procedure for implementation of customs operations and simplifying the phytosanitary control procedure (“green corridor”).
Tyurdenev said that now work is underway to organize a visit of the delegation of business circles of the Russian Federation to participate in the Second International fruit and vegetable fair, which will be held in Tashkent in September. The delegation will also include representatives of the largest Russian retailers.
According to UzAgroExport, Uzbekistan plans to increase total export of fruit and vegetable products 1.55 times in 2017 compared to 2016 - up to 1.27 million tonnes.
