Uzbekistan intends to increase production of cars by 2.7 times

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to increase production of passenger cars by 2.7 times by 2022 compared to 2016 – to 240,000 cars.
On 1 June 2017, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On measures on further improving management and accelerated development of the automotive industry for 2017-2021”.
According to the resolution, Uzbekistan plans to increase production of cars from 88,200 in 2016 to 240,000 in 2021. It is expected that Uzbekistan will produce 122,000 cars in 2017.
In 2017-2021, Uzbekistan intends to increase production of buses and trucks by 1.6 times. The volume of bus and truck production in 2021 will reach 6,900 units.
Starting from 2019, Uzbekistan will launch production of light commercial cars. It is expected that output of light commercial cars will stand at 3,000 units a year. By 2021, the figure will exceed 6,200 units.
The resolution said that output of automobile industry of Uzbekistan will grow from 4.22 trillion soums in 2016 to 12.84 trillion soums in 2021.
