President approves measures to prevent emergencies

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On measures to radically improve effectiveness of the emergency prevention and response system”.
The document identifies the most important areas for improving the system of prevention and liquidation of emergencies and the tasks of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan.
In accordance with the decree, the Center for Hydrometeorological Service, the State Inspectorate for Control and Supervision over the Technical Condition and Safety of Large and Especially Important Water Management Facilities under the Cabinet of Ministers was transferred to the system of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The State Inspectorate for Small Boats and the Seismic Surveillance Service of the Institute of Seismology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan also handed over to the Ministry.
President defined the main tasks of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. In particular, the Ministry will develop and implement a unified state policy in the field of prevention and liquidation of emergency situations of natural and man-made nature in peacetime and wartime.
The Ministry will ensure the sustainable functioning of hydraulic structures, seismic observations, etc.
The Ministry will identify risks and threats of emergencies, as well as ensure prevention and prevention of their occurrence.
According to the decree, additional emergency departments and rescue teams will be established in regions (cities) with a high risk of emergencies.
President of Uzbekistan also established a government commission for prevention and liquidation of emergency situations led by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Achilbay Ramatov.
Similar territorial commissions will be set up under the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, regional khokimiyats, Tashkent city, as well as regions (cities) of Uzbekistan.
The Commission will determine the main directions for improving and developing the State system of prevention and action in emergency situations.
The commission will also coordinate the activities of public authorities in the regions, state and economic management bodies, citizens’ self-government bodies on issues of socioeconomic and legal protection, medical rehabilitation of citizens affected by accidents, disasters, natural and other disasters, as well as persons taking Participation in the liquidation of emergency situations.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved a program of comprehensive measures, which envisages measures to increase the effectiveness of the system of preventing and eliminating emergencies, strengthening human resources, introducing modern information and communication technologies and advances in science and technology, and strengthening the material and technical base of the Ministry of Emergencies.
