Movement of trucks via Qamchiq pass banned

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan banned transportation of cargo via Qamchiq pass with automobile transport with an axial load over 11.5 tonnes.
Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On measures on effective exploitation of automobile road A-373 at the area via Qamchiq pass”.
According to the document, the set parameters for the axial load will not be applied to freight truck, transporting bulky and heavy freights, transported with special permission of the authorized bodies, vehicles used to construction and reconstruction, as well as repair of road infrastructure at Qamchiq pass.
It said that special equipment for checking weights and dimensions of the cargo will be installed at checkpoints Chinor in Ahangaran district of Tashkent region and Sherobod in Pap district of Namangan region.
The document said that Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways) will transport cargo via railway road Angren-Pap via Qamchiq pass.
The document is directed at ensuring security of movement of automobile transport at area of A-373 road via Qamchiq pass and preserve road pavement. The decision will allow to cut decrease prime cost of transported cargo.
The ban comes into force from 1 July 2017.
