Uzagroexport exports 101,800 tonnes of fruits, vegetables in 1Q

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzagroexport exported 101,800 tonnes of fruits and vegetables in the first quarter of 2017, which rose by 7% year-on-year, the press service of the company said.
Currently, Uzbekistan exports fruits and vegetables, as well as procced products to over 50 countries of the world.
Uzagroexport said that cold weather hindered to export opportunities of fresh vegetables.
During January-March, the hard currency revenue made up US$129.3 million from export fruits and vegetables, which rose 79% or US$57.1 million.
The average price of exported product by Uzagroexport made up US$785.1 per tonne in the first quarter of 2017, which rose by US$127.1 compared to 2016.
Uzbekistan increased some types of fruits and vegetables. As of 1 April 2017, export of grape rose by 21 times (2,600 tonnes in 1Q 2017 and 100 tonnes in 2016), fruits by 3 times (6,400 tonnes in 1Q 2917, 1,900 tonnes in 2016).
The country also creates new cold storage chambers, which also help to expand exports. In the first quarter 2017, the company shipped 2,839 tonnes of pomegranate (+305.8%), 1,590 tonnes of limon (+234.8%), 595 tonnes of apple (+616.7%), etc.
Uzbekistan exported 21,100 tonnes of green mung for over US$13 million, which grew by 320% year-on-year.
It is worth to mention that earlier Uzbekistan could not export mung and tomatoes due to low quality of these products.
Number of exporting enterprises rose from 147 in 2015 to 298 in 2016, while 14 new enterprises started to export their products in the first quarter of 2017.
