First International Fruit and Vegetable Fair starts in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- First International Fruit and Vegetable Fair started in Tashkent on 8 November 2016. The event is taking place at UzExpoCenter.
Representatives of processing companies, trade organizations, chambers of commerce, relevant ministries and agencies, logistical companies from over 30 countries such as the US, the UK, Italy, France, the UAE, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, India, Russia, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan and others are attending the event.
Within the fair, the Uzbek companies and fairs are presenting their products. The fair will allow to expand geography and markets of supply of agriculture products, find new foreign partners.
Fresh, dried and processed fruits, vegetables, melons and legumes, as well as spices are presented at the fair.
There are negotiation zones at UzExpoCenter, where suppliers can hold talks with local companies on supply of products. Foreign guests will receive chance to visit processing enterprises, cold storage sites and intensive gardens.
Extraordinary International Fair and Vegetable Fair was held in July 2016 in Tashkent. Over 300 representatives foreign companies and processing companies took part in the event.
Over 270 agreements for over US$2 billion were signed within the fair with 30 countries, including Russia, USA, China, England, Germany, UAE, Japan, India, Turkey, etc.
It is worth to mention that the Government of Uzbekistan adopted a programme on further developing raw base, deepening processing fruits, vegetables, meat and milk products, increasing production, export of food goods till 2020.
Within the programme, Uzbekistan is planning to realize 80 projects on deep processing of agriculture products with creation of capacities for 345,000 tonnes of production of ready goods. Uzbekistan is laso plans to create new cold stores and chambers with the capacity of 325,000 tonnes.
The country also plans to realize 254 investment projects with creation of 76 processing enterprises, construction of 155 refrigerators and launch of 23 capacities on packaging within the programme on deepening processing and creation of additional capacities for storage of fruits and vegetables for 20172-18.
The projects will be realized in 66 rural areas, specializing for production of fruits, vegetables and grape. It is planned to increase processing of fruits and vegetables in Uzbekistan from 18% to almost 30%.
