Legislative Chamber approves employment programme for 2017

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 October, Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan adopted a programme of population employment for 2017.
The programme is aimed at further increasing employment of population due to mobilization of existing reserves and resources in the sectors of economy, modernization and development of industry, agriculture, infrastructure, small businesses and private entrepreneurship, and services.
The programme envisages provision of permanent jobs to 389,300 people, including due to creation of new jobs – 345,300 people. It is expected that 131,100 new jobs were created in industry, 69,500 jobs in service sector, 55,800 – agriculture sector, 88,900 – in construction and realization of infrastructure projects, as well as 44,000 – rehabilitation of inactive enterprises and transferring state property to private sector.
About 97,700 people will be employed due to development of individual entrepreneurship, including due to loans of the banks.
The population of Uzbekistan will be also attracted to seasonal and temporary works in agriculture and construction spheres. This will help to provide jobs to 199,100 people in average a year.
Self-employment in agriculture, craftsmenship and family entrepreneurship will allow to provide jobs to 308,600 people, primarily women, people with special needs and other vulnerable layers of population.
The programme took into account real situation in the labour market of Uzbekistan. The document envisages provision of jobs to over 500,000 graduates of colleges and universities.
