Pedestrians to be fined for using mobile phone

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan introduced fines for pedestrians for using mobile phone or listening audio materials when passing through the roadway.
On 23 September 2016, Shavkat Mirziyayev signed a law “On introduction of changes and amendments to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan”.
Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan passed the law on 22 August 2016 and Senate approved the document on 25 August 2016.
The law introduced amendments to the Code of Uzbekistan on administrative responsibility.
According to the amendments, use of mobile phone, reading book or periodicals, watching video materials and listening audio materials, as well as using other electronic products, distracting their attention at passing through the roadway will be punished with the fine of 1/3 sizes of minimal salary.
The law also introduced the fine for protruding parts of the body (except hand) outside of the vehicle. The violators will fined for 1 size of minimal salary.
