Responsibility introduced for violation of personal privacy in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan introduced responsibility for breach of personal privacy. Corresponding norms were introduced to Code of administrative responsibility and Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
On 23 September 2016, Shavkat Mirziyayev signed a law “On introduction of changes and amendments to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan”.
Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan passed the law on 22 August 2016 and Senate approved the document on 25 August 2016.
According to the amendments to the Code of administrative responsibility, illegal collection and dissemination of information on private life, consisting of private and family secret without their consent, will be punished with the fine from 10 to 40 sizes of minimal salary.
The similar actions, committed after application of administrative punishment will be punished with the fine at the size from 50 to 100 sizes of minimal salary or correctional labour up to 2 years or imprisonment for up to 6 months.
If these actions have resulted in serious consequences and committed for mercenary motives, or committed by a dangerous recidivist, the offender shall be punished with the fine from 100 to 200 sizes of minimal salary or restriction of liberty from 1 to 3 years, or imprisonment up to 3 years.
