Responsibility for pointing lasers to airplanes introduced in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan introduced a responsibility for pointing lasers to the airplanes from the land.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a law “On amendments and addenda to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan” on 25 April.
Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan passed the law on 30 March and Senate approved it on 31 March. The document came into force on 26 April.
The law introduced changes to Criminal Code and Code on administrative responsibility, which determine types and measures of responsibility of individuals for pointing laser to the aircrafts.
In particular, the article 116-1 “Interference by a laser beam during operation of the aircraft” envisages fine at the size from 100 to 200 minimal sizes of salary or administrative arrest for 15 days with confiscation of objects of the offense.
According to new article 263-1 of the Criminal Code, if the violation leads to medium gravity or grave damage, the offender shall be punished with correctional labor for up to 2 years or imprisonment for up to 3 months.
The same action that resulted in the death of one person will be punished with imprisonment for up to 5 years. If the action leads to loss of human life or a plane crash will be punished by up to 10 years of imprisonment.
