Illegal taxi drivers fined for 6.5bn soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Illegal taxi drivers were fined for 6.5 billion soums in the past period of 2016 in Uzbekistan, Head of department of taxation of legal entities of the State Tax Committee Aziz Giyosov said.
Since the start of 2016, the tax and police officers of Uzbekistan conducted over 3,500 raids to reveal illegal transportation of passengers.
According to the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan, about 7,000 people, who illegally transported passengers, were revealed in the result of the raids.
The private car owners, who were detained in the course of illegal transportation of the passengers, imposed the fine at the size of equal to from 20 to 100 times of minimum wage, while the heads of companies and organizations, whose employees are engaged in illegal taxi driver, from 50 to 150 times of the minimum wage.
Repeated violations within a year envisages criminal punishment and the fine at the size from 25 to 75 minimum wages and deprivation of driving licenses for up to five years or correction works for up to three years.
