Tashkent, Astana discuss trade-economic cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan held the 15th session of the joint intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation.
The session of the commission was held in Astana (Kazakhstan). First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov headed the delegation of Uzbekistan.
First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytjan Sagintaev led the delegation of Kazakhstan.
At the meeting, the sides discussed issues of trade-economic cooperation, expanding mutual trade and its nomenclature, stable work of energy systems of two states.
In transport sphere, the sides agreed to develop automobile, railroad and air communications.
Ministries of Foreign Affairs of two states held consultations on expanding agreement-legal framework of cooperation.
The sides expressed intention to continue cooperation in such areas as trade of goods and services, oil and gas sector, transport and tourism.
First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytjan Sagintaev noted that experts of two states will start work on increasing list of goods, which will allow to expand mutual trade. It was noted that mutual trade turnover fell by 13.9% in 2015 due to situation in global economy.
He noted that the inter-governmental commission reached agreement that Uzbekistan will decrease excise tax for meat and confectionary products from Kazakhstan. The excise duties will be decreased stage-by-stage by 2020.
