UN: Uzbekistan’s economy to grow by 7% in 2016

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Real gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan will grow by 7% in 2016, according to the UN report World Economic Situation and Prospects 2016 (WESP).
According to the UN report, the growth of economy of Uzbekistan in 2017 is expected at the level of 6.9%. At the same time, according to estimates of the UN experts, the GDP of Uzbekistan increased by 8% in 2015.
The UN said that Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan will register the highest GDP growth among the CIS states. Turkmenistan will also record 10.5% GDP growth in 2016 and 9.9% in 2017.
The report said that the inflation made up 11% in 2015. The inflation rate is expected at the level of 9.9% in 2016 and 8% in 2016.
According to official data, the economy of Uzbekistan rose by 8% in 2015. The government expects that the GDP will grow by 7.9% in 2016.
World Economic Situation and Prospects is produced at the beginning of each year by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the five United Nations regional commissions.
