President: Uzbekistan’s GDP grows by 8% in 2015

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Economy of Uzbekistan grew by 8% in 2015 compared to 2014, the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of 2015.
Uzbek head noted that industrial production in Uzbekistan increased by 8%, agriculture outputs – 6.8% and construction-assembly works – almost 18%.
The volume of investments into economy grew by 9.5% in 2015 against 2014 and reached US$15.8 billion. Uzbekistan used foreign investments for US$3.3 billion (21.1% of total investments), of which about 73% were direct investments.
Uzbekistan launched 158 production objects with total cost of US$7.2 billion.
The state budget was executed with surplus at the size of 0.1% to the GDP. The level of inflation made up 5.6%.
Share of small and private businesses in GDP made rose from 31% in 2000 to 56.7% in 2015. The sector produced one third of industrial production and 98% of agriculture goods. Over 77% of employed population work in the sector, the Uzbek President said.
According to Islam Karimov, in 2015, the service sector has provided more than half of gross domestic product. Currently, its share in GDP reached 54.5% against 49% in 2010. Over half of the total employed population work in this sector.
The growth of income of population helped to increase internal consumer demand. The volume of retail trade turnover rose by 15% in 2015 and paid services – 10.8%, the President said.
Uzbek President Islam Karimov said that Uzbekistan plans to achieve 7.8% growth of GDP, industrial output – 8.2%, agriculture production – 6.1%, retail trade – 14% and services – 17.4%.
He said that Uzbekistan plans to keep inflation rate at the level of 5.5-6.5%, while real income of population will rose by 9.5%, average salaries, pensions, stipends and allowances – 15%.
