Uzbekistan Airways chief: Flights to Ukraine are problematic issue

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Ukraine could not reach an agreement on resuming air communication between Tashkent and Kiev. Flights to Ukraine are a problematic issue, the director-general of Uzbekistan Havo Yollari (Uzbekistan Airways) Valery Tyan said.
During the press conference in Tashkent, he said that Uzbekistan Havo Yollari conducted five flights a week to Simferopol and two flights to Kiev.
He said that in one moment the Uzbek airline lost five flights to Simferopol due to current situation there. Ukraine did not allow Uzbekistan Havo Yollari to Simferopol as they believe that administration of Simferopol Airport is illegal. These are political nuances. The issue was not solved and the Uzbek airline is not flying to Simferopol. He underlined that Simferopol was an import direction for the airline.
Speaking about flights to Kiev, Valery Tyan underlined that Uzbekistan and Ukraine signed an intergovernmental agreement on servicing Tashkent- Kiev route. He said that the Uzbek side accepted several proposals of the Ukrainian side, when the flight was opening.
Tyan said that the load of flights to Kiev was low and the Uzbek side offered to cut number of flights to one as it is pointless to fly with empty planes.
International Airlines of Ukraine did not agree to conduct one flight a week. He said that there is one reason to this – IAU sold tickets to Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kaliningrad, in other works to directions, to which Uzbekistan Havo Yollari flies, but with open dumping.
“We told them, how is it: you are in conflict (with Russia - UzDaily), and you are transporting passengers. They said - money does not smell. Later, the conflict reached the level of aviation administrations,”- he said.
Tyan stated that the Uzbek side offers any number of flights to Ukrainian side, but with one condition. They will realize tickets only to Tashkent-Kiev flights.
Chief of the Uzbek airline said that the Ukrainian airline is selling tickets to London, Paris, Frankfurt knock-down prices. Uzbekistan Havo Yollari is also flying to these cities. He noted that why we keep this flight? Should the Uzbek airline lose the passengers? This is short description of situation, and there are many nuances. He added that Uzbekistan and Ukraine is continuing to hold talks to settle the situation.
