Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is not allowing to fly in line with agreed frequency of twice a week, Vice President on commerce of Ukraine International Airlines (UAI) Sergei Fomenko told in interview to RBC-Ukraine.
Fomensko said that Uzbekistan is not allowing to fly in line with agreed frequency of twice a week and in the result, the air communication between two states suspended.
He said that the UAI conducted flights between Uzbekistan and Ukraine twice a week till spring 2015. But, the Uzbek side decreased number of flights to one and obliged the UAI to decrease number of flights as well. He said that the Uzbek side said there will be no other way.
UAI Vice President underlined that the sides agreed to conduct three flights a week. Later, the sides agreed to decrease number of flights up to two a week. Now Uzbekistan asks to decrease number of flights to once a week. Fomenko said that one flight a week is not profitable for transit or tourism market. So, in this case the tours will be seven days or 14 days, which is not convenient for tourists.
Fomenko said that it is not normal practice to re-agree agreement, which was already reached. He said that the Ukraine side informed the Uzbek side about it. He said that currently the UAI has no confirmation from the Uzbek side of conducting flights between Uzbekistan and Ukraine. “It is pity as Uzbekistan and Ukraine only started to rehabilitate and develop tourism between two states,” he said.
Answering to question on perspectives of rehabilitation of direct air communication with Uzbekistan, Sergei Fomenko said that there is regular dialogue and there is perspective if both sides find wish to develop air communication between the states.
